Lauren Pastorek is a native Houstonian who has returned home after nearly two decades of performing across the US and Canada. Most recently, Lauren received a Grammy for her work as a vocalist on the Houston Chamber Choir's album, Duruflé: Complete Choral Works.
Lauren was featured as Fastrada in Pippin with TUTS, she made her Houston Symphony debut as the soloist in Green Eggs and Ham, and she is a founding member of Six of One, the premier all-female a cappella group in Houston. She starred Off-Broadway in the original cast of The Marvelous Wonderettes, was on the First National Tour of Cameron Mackintosh's Oklahoma!, the National Tour of The Will Rogers Follies, and the North American Tour of Cameron Mackintosh's My Fair Lady. Lauren was featured at the Kennedy Center in Carnival!, and she also appeared in productions at NYC's Town Hall, the Opera Company of Brooklyn, New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players, and, most notably, with Encores! at City Center. Some of her favorite NYC performances were with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Lauren can be heard on numerous recordings with the Ohio Light Opera. Lauren was the very first Grand Prize winner of the prestigious Lotte Lenya Competition, now held annually by the Kurt Weill Foundation. She had the honor of premiering "On this Muddy Water" as the mezzo soloist with the Houston Grand Opera, as well as premiering a few songs on guitar as a part of their "Veterans Songbook." Other solo concert credits include the Bach B Minor Mass and Messiah with the Houston Chamber Choir, the Duruflé Requiem with the St. James Compostela in NYC, Beethoven's Ninth with the Lebanon Symphony, and the midwest premiere of Choral Symphony No. 5 by Philip Glass with the CCM Chamber Orchestra. Television credits include multiple appearances as a singer on "Good Morning, America", as well as hosting "Rockets Kidz Jam" on UPN 20.
Lauren's students have gone on to book Broadway shows, national tours, leading roles in regional theatre houses, and more. Recently she has had students attend schools such as Yale, NYU, and Boston University. As a director and choreographer, she has worked at HITS Theatre, Humphrey's School of Musical Theatre, Wildfish Theatre, Miller Outdoor Theatre, Moores Opera House, A&M-Commerce, and various schools across the nation. Lauren graduated Summa cum Laude and first ranked in her class at Eastman School of Music with a Bachelors of Music, was honored with a Performer's Certificate, and received a Masters of Music from Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
